Do Politics

Welcome to the Do Politics Centre brought to you by the Electoral Commission

This website is a resource hub for electoral administrators, youth and community workers, teachers, and other practitioners interested in encouraging people to get involved in our democracy.

If you would like information about elections in your area or how to register to vote, please visit www.aboutmyvote.co.uk.

Want to promote the annual canvass?

It's that time of year again, so we thought we'd highlight some resources designed to support your work during the annual canvass. Why not:

STOP PRESS - Have your say DVD launch!

Our NEW light and humorous short film covers why you'd want to register, and how to fill in the electoral registration form. Its ideal for use in schools, training sessions or community groups. It's aimed primarily at young people, or people with lower literacy levels, but also has subtitles in 14 different languages and a BSL version so is accessible to all.

To order the DVD, please call our orderline on 0845 8500 501 and quote code EC11.

Here's what you can find in the Do Politics Centre

  • Toolbox: downloadable posters, leaflets, educational materials and other tools to help your work.
  • How to... files: advice on working with particular groups such as young people or black and minority ethnic communities along with general advice on communication, campaign and evaluation techniques.
  • Case studies: Real life case studies from across the UK. Please email us at dopolitics@electoralcommission.org.uk if your organisation has a case study you would like to include.

We want you to Do Politics

The Electoral Commission is an independent body set up by Parliament. Part of our role is to encourage people to get involved in democracy.
